<description>Acai berries have been around for centuries. Legend has it that it was first spotted in an tribe in the Amazon where starvation was a problem because of the tribe’s vast population. It was decreed by the tribe chief for all babies to be sacrificed so that their population will not grow any bigger and food will be enough for all. When the chief’s daughter gave birth, her baby was not spared. One evening while mulling about the fate of her baby, the chief’s daughter heard her dead baby’s cries and followed it to a palm tree in the tribal village. The next morning, she was found dead under the palm tree. When the tribesmen looked up into the tree, they found clumps of blue berries that eventually saved the whole tribe from starvation. The tree became known as the acai berry tree or the tree of life.
